Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek a picturesque Himalayan destination around Mid West Nepal, where you will have fascinating and glamorous time within high snow capped peaks of Annapurna Himalaya, includes views of world 7th highest Mt. Dhaulagiri and the 8th highest Mt. Manaslu with majestic peak Machhapuchare with a shape of a Fish Tail. Beside mountain views, this fabulous Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek offers cultural delights as you walk into traditional Gurung and Poon / Magar villages of Ghorepani and Chhomrong with ever present views of Annapurna Himalaya.

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek truly a breathtaking experience as you walk into enchanting alpine woodland of tall rhododendron-magnolia and pines trees, where in summer this whole area turns into paradise when wild flowers are in full bloom with riots of colors.

Starting our journey taking a short drive from beautiful Pokhara valley, and then walk leads towards high green hills at Ghorepani village for excellent hike to Poon Hill viewpoint at 3,210m high, offers tremendous panorama of snow clad peaks with stunning sunrise views.

From here into pristine forest to reach our next destination at Chhomrong a large Gurung village and the door to Annapurna sanctuary and base camp, as the walk progress into Modi River gorge and then entering a wide glacial valley at Annapurna Sanctuary where you will be enclosed between high mountains of Annapurna Himalaya, finally reaching our highlight and main destination at Annapurna base camp on the highest spot of the adventure above 4,130 m high.

After an exciting and enjoyable moment our return journey leads to a long descend to reach at road head for the drive back to Pokhara after passing through nice lovely villages of Jhinu-Landruk and Potana facing excellent views of mountain panorama.

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek concludes at beautiful and scenic Pokhara for the drive back to Kathmandu after completing an adventure of a life time experience on high scenic Annapurna Himalaya.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: Reaching Kathmandu via respective airlines and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu sightseeing tour at places of interest.
Day 03: Drive or fly to Pokhara 950m (30 minutes flight and 6 hrs drive)
Day 04: Drive to Nayapul 1,100m and trek to Tirkhedhuga 1,450m.
Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani 2,874m – 05 hrs.
Day 06: Morning hike to Poon-Hill and trek to Tadapani 2,721m – 05 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Ghandruk 1,951m – 04 hrs.
Day 08: Trek to Potana 1,900 m – 05 hrs.
Day 09: Trek to Kande 1,460m and drive to Pokhara.
Day 10: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.
Day 11: International departure homeward bound.

 

Day 01: Reach Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching Kathmandu International Airport received by our staff and guide with warm welcome then a short drive to your hotel in the main areas of Kathmandu city, here joining with other members of Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking, our guide will brief with full information about the trek - hotels-culture with do’s and don’ts, include welcome dinner in a nice Nepali restaurant with folk programs.

Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
As per the given time for sightseeing tour around Kathmandu, after breakfast our city and tour guide will pick you with short interesting drive for an impressive and exciting tour, Kathmandu although a metropolitan city retaining its ancient culture and traditions, where most of the World Heritage Sites are located for your interest, includes medieval period custom and culture as it was for hundreds of centuries, Kathmandu valley a blend of Buddhism and Hinduism in perfect harmony, after an interesting tour afternoon free preparation for Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara 820m (220km) - 06hrs.
Ghorepani Poon Hill trek starts with an exciting overland drive on busy highway to reach scenic Pokhara, on reaching Pokhara transfer to respective hotels by the beautiful Phewa Lake where most of the hotels are located. 
(For interested people can take a short scenic flight to Pokhara of 30 minutes)

Day 04: Drive to Nayapul (trek point) with 4 hrs trek to Tirkhedhunga 1,450m
After breakfast few hour drive to Nayapul unto Bhirethati by the river Modi, from here walk begins through nice villages coming across trekkers, mule and donkey trains, our route leads to farm areas and villages, waterfalls then reaching at Tirkhedhunga for overnight stop in the comfort of a nice cozy lodge after a good day walks of few hours.

Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani 2,874 m - 06 hrs.
Morning starts with steep uphill climb on stone steps for an hour or more to reach on top Ulleri village, moderate size villages with houses in traditional Nepalese style of slated roofs from here walk leads with gradual slow climb into enchanting cool rhododendron and pine forested area to reach at Ghorepani village, located on a ridge surrounded with beautiful rhododendron trees. This village inhabited mostly by Poon people of Magar tribe and famous for Poon Hill view top which is an hour climb.

Day 06: Hike to Poon Hill 3,210 m and trek to Tadapani 2,721 m - 05 hrs.
Early morning climb to the top of Poon Hill to catch the stunning sunrise over array of Himalayan peaks from world 7th highest Dhaulagiri-10th highest Annapurna with range of peaks including world 8th highest Manaslu with majestic Machhapuchare peak “Fish Tail”.

After enjoying exciting moment head back to Ghorepani and continues trek with uphill and downhill through cool forest then reaching at Tadapani for overnight stop.

Day 07: Trek to Ghandruk 1,951 m - 04 hrs.
From this peaceful village walk downhill into cool forest of rhododendron and pines trees to reach on top of Ghandruk villages, on reaching Ghandruk a Gurung village famous as Gorkha soldiers in foreign countries UK-India and Singapore enlisted as soldiers, besides army services are traditional farmers and cattle herders of Buddhist / Bon religion and culture.

Ghandruk one of the largest villages around Annapurna area here in the comfort of a nice cozy lodge after a good day walks of few hours.

Day 08: Trek to Potana 1,900 m via Landruk - 06 hrs.
After nice stop at Ghandruk village morning walk downhill on stone steps reaching at another large village in Landruk with a short climb from the Modi River.  After a short rest with commanding views walk is easier on winding trails with few short and up and down to reach at Tolka village with grand views of Annapurna South and Huinchuli.

From here walk on gradual trail with few short ups and down, passing village Bheda Kharka, and then an hour or less climb into cool forest to reach at Pitam Deurali at 2,100 meters high, offering grand views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Huinchuli, and Mt. Machhapuchare and of Ghandruk village. From Deurali downhill through forest to Potana village for last overnight stop on the high hills of Annapurna.

Day 09: Walk to Kande 1,460 m via Australian camp and drive to Pokhara.
Morning with fabulous views of snowcapped peaks, our last day trek continues into cool forest with uphill to Thulo Kharka also popularly called Australian Camp, a scenic spot located on a large meadows with parallel views of Annapurna and Manaslu range of mountains.

Our final walk of this adventure leads downhill to road head at Kande village for the drive back at picturesque Pokhara by the serene Phewa Lake after an hour of exciting drive.

Day 10: Drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus transfer to hotel.
Enjoying time in lovely Pokhara with glorious views, morning depart for Kathmandu with an interesting overland drive to Kathmandu after a grand time at Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking, in Kathmandu afternoon free for individual activities and shopping souvenirs.

Day 11: International departure for home ward bound.
Your last day in Nepal, amazing country of Himalayan wonders, as per your flight time leaving your hotel where our staff transfers you to airport, after a great memorable adventure with enjoyable time on Ghorepani  Poon Hill Trekking.

Q. Will somebody come to pick me up at the airport upon my arrival?

A. Absolutely! Our Airport Representative will come to the airport to pick you up. Outside of Terminal Hall, he will be displaying a play card of Nepal Everest Base Camp  Treks with your name on it.

Q. What type of accommodation do I expect while I am in Kathmandu & Mountain?

A. Excellent!! Our company will provide you five star category hotels in Kathmandu Radission Hotel and Del’ Annapurna or similar category with inclusive breakfast & best available accommodation duration the trekking as per your programs.

Q. What type of shape do I need to be for this trip?

A. This is suitable for average people who are good health & moderately fit, thus no previous experience is required however to get condition for this trip, some physical fitness programs such as running, swimming, hiking is recommended before you embark on journey. Person who is suffering from pre-existing diseases must seek medical advice with your doctor before considering the any trekking in Nepal. Whilst on the trek, it is common to experience some discomfort before being fully acclimatized.

Q. What is the best time for Trek?

A. We recommend you anytime between 15th February to 15th June in spring & 15th September to 10th December in autumn and spring season is the best time for trek, however, rest of the months are okay and trekking can be done but not as much as nice comparing those season due to winter & raining respectably.But when you will be get leisure time that we can provide prime and suitable trip for you.

Q. Is the food/water safe to drink during the trek?

A. During in mountain, your expert guide will advise you on what you should and shouldn’t eat and drink. The food at the places you will be staying is all safe to eat. Water you can buy bottled or bring along purification tablets. Every lodges/guest house also serve both boiled and filtered water on cheaper price for you to treat accordingly.

Q. I am alone ! Can I join in group?

A. Excellent! If you are not interesting travel alone, we do have several joining trip on every different route, please choose your suitable departure date.

A. Yes, Most of the guest houses you can recharge your camera batteries along the trek approximately cost you USD 2-3 per hour.

Q. What is the weather & temperature like in mountain?

A. Weather in the mountains is notoriously difficult to predict. At night it is generally cooler the days are generally warm. There will be snow during the month of December and February. It is important to make sure that you can stay warm and dry in just about any conditions. Expect the unexpected! The temperature could be as high as 21 deg C to -10 deg C low.

Q. How much should I plan on spending for each meal not included in Kathmandu?

A. In Kathmandu, you can allocate US$ 15 – 20 per meal.
