Introduction:

Kanchenjunga Trekking an adventure into pure wilderness around pristine environment untouched by main flow of trekkers, an awesome journey in the hidden country of Nepal’s Far North Eastern Himalaya. Kanchenjunga also spelled and pronounced as ‘Kanchendzonga’ where in Tibetan language means five jewels of snowcapped peaks which is a group of satellite peaks that makes massive Kanchenjunga range of mountains, that straddles the border between Nepal and Sikkim ( a small North East India states).

Kanchenjunga stands as world third highest mountains at 8,586 m / 28,169 ft high and 2nd highest within Nepal Himalaya, Kanchenjunga Trekking a fascinating adventure leading you to marvel its awesome beauties with dramatic landscapes of green valley, rolling high green hills, enchanting serene forest of tall rhododendron-magnolia-oaks-birch-hemlocks and fir trees in the backdrop of giant snow capped mountains. Our adventure to Kanchenjunga Trekking involves a scenic flight towards south east Nepal and then taking exciting drive on mid hills of Ilam and Taplejung famous for tea’s and its vast plantations of tea.

Ending our scenic drive and then walk leads through many farm lands where local hardly encounters trekkers passing their unspoiled traditional villages, walk continues to reach our first destination at Kanchenjunga south base camp and then heading higher towards arctic zone of ice and glaciers at Pangpema where Kanchenjunga North Base camp located.

Enjoying hikes and views of massive Kanchenjunga with Kabru and Jannu Himal peaks, our journey return journey on downhill walk following Tamur River through interesting lovely villages to reach at Sukhetar in Taplejung area, where we take a drive back to Bhadrapur airport for the flight to Kathmandu. Day 01: Reach Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching Kathmandu International Airport received by our staff and guide with warm welcome then a short drive to your hotel in the main areas of Kathmandu city, here joining with other members of Kanchenjunga trekking, our guide will brief with full information about the trek - hotels-culture with do’s and don’ts, includes welcome dinner in a nice Nepali restaurant with folk programs.

Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
As per the given time for sightseeing tour around Kathmandu, after breakfast our city and tour guide will pick you with short interesting drive for an impressive and exciting tour, Kathmandu although a metropolitan city retaining its ancient culture and traditions, where most of the World Heritage Sites are located for your interest, includes medieval period custom and culture as it was for hundreds of centuries, Kathmandu valley a blend of Buddhism and Hinduism in perfect harmony, after an interesting tour afternoon free preparation for Kanchenjunga trekking.

Day 03: Fly to Bhadrapur 3000 m and drive to Ilam town - 04 hrs.
Depart hotel for the scenic flight to Bhadrapur, located in South Eastern Nepal of warm sub tropical temperature, from here an exciting drive leads us to hill town in Ilam, famous for teas and huge field of tea garden.

Day 04: Drive to Sukhetar trek to Lali Kharka 1,900m - 04 hrs.
Starting the morning with a drive to Sukhetar around Taplejung area, from Sukhetar start trekking, as the walk begins following spread-out mid hills villages to Lali Kharka village at 2,260 meters with time for local hike and to observe local culture.

Day 05: Trek to Khesewa - Bhanjyang 2,100m - 05 hrs.
Morning begins with descend and then climb to a nice farm fields and terraces, this area mostly populated by Hindu Brahmins, Chettris and Kirat- Rai tribes.

Slowly walk reaches at Tembawa village, then downhill to Pokora village leading with a climb all the way at Kunjari village and to Khesewa-Bhanjyang village for overnight stop, with views of Mt. Kanchenjunga and Yalungkang peaks.

Day 06: Trek to Mamankhe 2,030 m - 06 hrs.
Start the day with downhill to cross a stream, and then climb into forest to Lopoding village, from here with ups and down to Fun Fun, a small village offering views Khumbakarna Himalaya range with Yalung and Mt. Kanchenjunga.

From here climb for an hour to Pomppe Dhada with views of Mt. Jannu with downhill to Kheswa khola, after crossing a bridge reaching at Mamankhe village for overnight stop.

Day 07: Trek to Yangphudin 2,150m - 06 hrs.
Morning begins with gentle climb, skirting around ridge with level path leading to Dekadin village. From here walk on the bank of Kabeli khola (stream) then climb of 300 meters high above river to reach a mountain path, then descend on stone steps to Kabeli khola to end the day at Yamphudin for overnight.

Day 08: Trek to Chitre 2,880 m - 06hrs.
From Yamphudin village walk along Kabeli khola, crossing tributary stream of Omje khola and climb to Dhupi Bhangyang to reach a wide open grassland, from the top downhill through deciduous forest to Omje Khola, as the walk enters rhododendron forest, and to an exposed ridge to set our camp at Chitre, a small settlement with few huts.

Day 09: Trek to Simbua Khola 3,000m - 07 hrs.
Morning walk to Ramite Bhanjyang with steep climb into magnolias, rhododendron and bamboo forest to reach at Ramite, an isolated spot with small hut, from here climb towards Ramite Bhanjyang at 3,430 meters with amazing views of Mt. Jannu, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Khumbhakarna and Kabru peaks and then descend to Simbua Khola for overnight stop.

Day 10: Trek to Tseram 3,770 m - 05 hrs.
Start the morning walk following Simbua Khola along mountain flank of forested area, then reaching Wahta a lonely spot with a small hut, and then cross a small stream leading to a shrine in the middle of a forest, where there’s a large rock with an impression of serpent shaped, on leaving woodland area, back to riverbed with a climb to Tserem for overnight stop.

Day 11: Trek to Ramche 4,360m via Lapsang - 05 hrs.
After a nice morning at Tserm morning starts with descend to Simbua Khola River, and then a climb to hill top reaching at Yalung Bara marking the end of tree lines with small stone built hut.

Day 12: Rest day at Ramche for acclimatization and excursion to south base camp.
At Ramche for acclimatization with excursion to Kanchenjunga South Base Camp along the walk view of Yalung Glacier and Mt. Kanchenjunga South Peak.

After two hours of steady walk leads on classic and old route of first British Expeditions to
Mt. Kanchenjunga climbed in 1955.

At South base camp enjoy great views of Talung and Kabru Peak, after a wonderful experience walk back to Ramche for overnight stop.

Day 13: Trek back to Tseram - 04 hrs.
Morning walk back to Tserm, with a long descend into tree lines on the route to Tseram for overnight. 

Day 14: Trek to Tamo - la 4,300 m - 05 hrs.
From here start with downhill to Yalungbar and then a short climb after crossing a river into forest leading uphill to reach at two small ponds, then up and down to crossing three passes of Mirgain La, Tamo La and Sinion La all in one day with super views of Kabru peak,
Kanchenjunga with Mt. Makalu,  Baruntse, and Chamlang peaks towards North West direction.
Descend to Tamo La at 4,500 m and from here another super views then reach overnight camp.

Day 15: Trek to Ghunsa 3,480m - 06 hrs.
From onward to our last destination North Base Camp of Kanchenjunga, a pleasant walk with downhill into forest to Ghunsa River, from here a nice gentle trekl to Ghunsa village for overnight stop.

Ghunsa populated with Bhotia people of Tibetan origin, houses are built with stones this is a nice, neat small farm village.

Day 16: Trek to Kangbachen 4,000m - 05 hrs.
Morning walk with steep climb overlooking waterfalls then on reaching grazing area of Yaks, after Ghunsa River, into nice rhododendron and pines woodland and then a climb to Rambuk Kharka with views of Khumbukarna and Janu Himal range, on leaving forest with tree lines entering dry and arid country with few vegetation of junipers and Burberrys bushes after Rambuk Kharka, uphill walk to overnight camp at Kangbachen overlooking Mt. Sharphu 7,070 meters and Mt. Janu North Face with Wedge peak.

Day 17: Trek to Lhonak 4,780 m - 05 hrs.
After a pleasant morning with views, walk starts above the river for an hour and then heading towards North East, walk leads to glacial river and then a climb leading to rocks and moraine fed with glaciers, after Ramtang Kharka (a cattle herders place) leads to Kanchenjunga glacier, crossing Lhonak and Kanchenjunga glacier to reach Lhonak for overnight stop with views of Mera, Nepal Peak and Wedge Peaks.

Day 18: Trek to Pang Pema 5, 065 m - 05 hrs.
From here adventure leads to our ultimate goal to Pang Pema, North Base Camp beneath massive Mt. Kanchenjunga, climb high above the river with super views of Kirat Chuli, Nepal Peak, Taple Sikhar, and Givegela Chuli, as the walk leads to highest point of this adventure at Pang Pema our last camps for two nights before heading back.

Day 19: Rest day at Pang Pema for local exploration.
At Pang Pema full free day for hike to Pang Pema Peak at 5,800 meters for best views at the top offers views of Kanchenjunga, Kumbhakarna, Makalu, Cholotse, Sharpu, Drohma, Nepal Peak and range of other snow capped mountains.

Day 20: Trek to Kangbachen 3,900 m - 06 hrs.
After a grand fantastic time at Pang Peam and Kanchenjunga North Base Camp, morning walk leads to long downhill with few small climb, retracing the journey back on the same route to overnight camp at Kambachen.

Day 21: Trek to Phole 3,100 m - 06 hrs.
From Kangbachen a long descend to Phole passing several farm area and small villages to cross Ghunsa Khola, and then walking into forest to an interesting Sherpa village at Phole for overnight stop.

Day 22: Trek to Amjilassa 2,500m - 07 hrs.
Morning starts with downhill back into bamboo and rhododendron forest, just before Gybala village a steep climb and down again for two hours into dense forest and reaching open grassland area to a small Sherpa village of Amjilassa for overnight stop.

Day 23: Trek to Tapethok 1,300 m - 06 hrs.
Heading back to warmer area on losing altitude to lower elevation into farm area and more villages, walk descend to open grassland of Ghaiya Bari and Sekathum villages, and then crossing Ghunsa and Simbhu rivers following Tamur River to Tapethok village for overnight camp, this village of Limbu (Subba) Kirat ethnic tribe people.

Day 24: Trek to Phoram 1,650m - 06 hrs.
After Tapethok village, walk continues following Tamur River to Chiruwa village, and then through many farm villages, leading to a climb into cool forest, leaving behind the forested area walk gets pleasant on reaching Phoram village, a lovely moderate size village.

Day 25: Trek to Suketar 2,440 m - 05 hrs.
Today, the last and final walk of this adventure to Suketar village, trek leads to several remote rural villages and woodland, walk leads uphill for few hours and then downhill to Taplejung village at Suketar for last overnight around Kanchenjunga area.

Sukhetar has a small airstrip with flight to Biratnagar, but the fights are unpredictable due bad weather conditions or less passengers, so View Nepal Treks made this itinerary which is the best possible way, without the hassle of flight delay and cancellation.

 Day 26: Drive to Fickal or Bhritamod / Bhadarpur.
After a great adventure to Kanchenjunga base camp our trip concludes with a drive to low area of Nepal South East at Bhadrapur for the flight back to Kathmandu, as the drive leads past Ilam town to reach our designated overnight stops before Kathmandu.

Day 27: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Enjoying time around North Eastern Himalaya with glorious views, morning depart for Kathmandu with an interesting scenic flight from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu, after a grand time on Kanchenjunga trekking, in Kathmandu afternoon free for individual activities and shopping souvenirs.

Day 28: International departure for home ward bound.
Your last day in Nepal, amazing country of Himalayan wonders, as per your flight time leaving your hotel where our staff transfers you to airport, after a great memorable adventure with enjoyable time on Kanchenjunga Trekking.

Q. What type of shape do I need to be for this trip?

A. This is suitable for average people who are good health & moderately fit, thus no previous experience is required however to get condition for this trip, some physical fitness programs such as running, swimming, hiking is recommended before you embark on journey. Person who is suffering from pre-existing diseases must seek medical advice with your doctor before considering the any trekking in Nepal. Whilst on the trek, it is common to experience some discomfort before being fully acclimatized.

Q. What is the best time for Trek?

A. We recommend you anytime between 15th February to 15th June in spring & 15th September to 10th December in autumn and spring season is the best time for trek, however, rest of the months are okay and trekking can be done but not as much as nice comparing those season due to winter & raining respectably.But when you will be get leisure time that we can provide prime and suitable trip for you.

Q. Is the food/water safe to drink during the trek?

A. During in mountain, your expert guide will advise you on what you should and shouldn’t eat and drink. The food at the places you will be staying is all safe to eat. Water you can buy bottled or bring along purification tablets. Every lodges/guest house also serve both boiled and filtered water on cheaper price for you to treat accordingly.

Q. What is the weather & temperature like in mountain?

A. Weather in the mountains is notoriously difficult to predict. At night it is generally cooler the days are generally warm. There will be snow during the month of December and February. It is important to make sure that you can stay warm and dry in just about any conditions. Expect the unexpected! The temperature could be as high as 21 deg C to -10 deg C low.
