The word Kathmandu is the name of a district but in general it represents three districts located in the valley. They are Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur (Patan). There are UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE sites in the valley. These sites are equally significant as the national identity and pride. Shrines of Buddhists and Hindus are the major highlights alongside the durbar (palace) squares of the Kathmandu Tour.
Witness incredible religious harmony here in Nepal. If you visit the Buddhists shrines and Hindu temples in the Kathmandu Valley, then you will find the amazing harmony among two religious beliefs. Inside the premises of Swyambhunath and Bouddhanath, you will find the temple and statue of Hindu gods and goddesses. It is so iconic. Bouddhanath is in the suburban area of the valley nearby Pashupatinath whereas Swyambhunath is at the heart of Kathmandu nearby Thamel. It is in the hill offering great scenery of Kathmandu Valley including the hills surrounding the city.
Pashupatinath temple is considered as the most sacred site for Hindus. It is believed that if you do visit all 4 Dhams (main religious site) then you must visit Pashupatinath temple for the successful completion of the trip and to get the blessings from gods & goddesses. Non – Hindus are not allowed to enter the main temple but there are many places inside the temple where you will find the true meaning of life. From the cremation fireplace to tranquil Mirgasthali jungle, the temple is where you will feel the spiritual vibe.
There are three Durbar (Palace) Squares in the Kathmandu Valley. Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square are ancient palace squares where you get to see an amazing craftsmanship of our ancestors. Major highlights of these palace squares are temples, museums, and ancient arts as well as artifacts. Interestingly, you should not miss out to visit living goddess Kumari temple. Besides Durbar Squares, Kathmandu Valley has another UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE site as well which is Changunarayan Temple located in the remote suburban area from Bhaktapur.
The famous hill station in the outskirts of the Kathmandu Valley is highly underrated! People often overlook this place but the travel planners of Nepal High Trek has kept Nagarkot in the Kathmandu Chitwan Tour package. It surely enhances the overall tour experiences. One can get the splendid scenery of mountains from Everest, Annapurna, Langtang and Manaslu Himalayan range. Get the best sunrise and sunset memories from Nagarkot.
Chitwan National Park is the most famous conservation area located in the Terai plains of Nepal on the southern side bordering India. The park is one of the oldest and shares the vast tropical to subtropical forests with Parsa Wildlife Reserve. It is home of more than 500 species of local to migrating birds, animals, insects, and vegetation. In the buffer zone of the Chitwan National Park, you will find the greatest harmony between nature and people. Tharu people are the land people and an indigenous community who have their own culture, traditions, language, and heritages. From their foods to dialect and from their every day lives to cultural folk tunes; this tour can be termed as Tharu Community Eco Village tour as well.
