Everest Base Camp Trek starts with sweeping 30 minutes flight to Lukla at 2,820 meters high, the gateway to Everest region, walking around terraced fields and traditional Sherpa farm villages, and then as trek progress reaching alpine area into enchanting forest of rhododendron, pines and oaks trees with views of Mt. Everest and Amadablam and other Khumbu mountains with contrast of green forest, hills and white snow capped peaks.

EBC & Kalapathar trek slowly enters the Sherpa capital at Namche Bazaar with its beautiful colored houses full of lodge, hotels and resorts with many restaurants, stores and shops, being here on Saturday Market will be interesting to observe the locals. At Namche with acclimatization days before heading higher elevation, from here walk leads on the gradual winding trail with super views of snow capped peaks and Everest walking through enchanting woodland of rhododendron, pines, firs and birch trees reaching at famous Tengboche monastery area, renowned for its Buddhist monastery and panoramic views of mountains with Everest , Thamserku and Amadablam peak.

From here heading higher as the tree lines disappears for smaller alpine bushes on the rugged windswept terrain passing the villages of Pangboche, Dingboche and Lobuche to reach the high spot of Gorakshep with two night here in the comfort of nice cozy lodge for the hike to Everest Base Camp and climb of Kalapathar, at base camp view of Khumbu Ice fall and glacier with close view of mountains that surrounds Mt. Everest.

Our return trek with a super climb to the top of Kalapathar the highest spot of this adventure at 5,545 meters with grand vista of Mt. Everest and other high mountains that surrounds this scenic top, after a great moment heading downhill towards Lukla for the flight back to Kathmandu with memorable and wonderful adventure around high dream Everest Base Camp Trek.

 

 

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: Reach Kathmandu via respective airlines and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Fly to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m – 04 hrs.
Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 05 hrs.
Day 04: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.
Day 05: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m – 05hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m – 05hrs.
Day 07: Rest day at Dingboche for acclimatization and excursion.
Day 08: Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m – 05 hrs.
Day 09: To Everest Base Camp 5,364 m via Gorak Shep 5,170 m and back at Gorakshep.
Day 10: Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m trek to Pheriche 4,240m – 05 hrs.
Day 11: Trek to Tengboche – 05 hrs.
Day 12: Trek to Monjo 2,860m – 06 hrs.
Day 13: Trek to Lukla – 04 hrs.
Day 14: Fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.
Day 15: In Kathmandu free day for individual activities.
Day 16: International departure homeward bound.

Day 01: Reach Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching Kathmandu International Airport received by our staff and guide with warm welcome then a short drive to your hotel in the main areas of Kathmandu city, here joining with other members of Everest Base Camp Trek, our guide will brief with full information about the trek - hotels-culture with do’s and don’ts, include welcome dinner in a nice Nepali restaurant with folk programs.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla 2,820m and trek to Phakding village 2,640 m - 04 hrs.
Everest Base Camp Trek begins with sweeping short flight to land at Lukla, during 30 minutes on air view of stunning mountain range with Mt. Everest, as the plane lands at Lukla named as ‘Tenzing-Hillary Airport’ in honor of legendry climbers’ first summiteers of Mt. Everest.

From Lukla our first day walk starts on winding downhill path with short climb passing many traditional Sherpa farm villages with views of peaks, after a pleasant walk reaching at Phakding for overnight stop near the glacier fed Dudh Kosi (river)

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.

After a pleasant overnight stop in Phakding, morning walk starts following Dudh Kosi, and crossing bridges to reach Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo village, from here walk to last  Jorsalle village before Namche Bazaar and then on crossing a last high bridge climb leads with beautiful views of Everest and other peaks, walk finally ends at famous Namche Bazaar for two over nights in this prosperous town or large village with facilities of ATMs, Cyber cafes, stores, shops, restaurants, banks and fresh bakery with a busy colorful Saturday market.

Day 04: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization.

Namche an ideal spot for rest and acclimatization, free day with morning short hike up to park museum with necessary information of mountaineering, flora / fauna with Sherpa culture and Buddhist religions, this scenic spot offers grand views of mountains Mt. Everest and stunning Amadablam, for interested people hike uphill to Everest View Hotel for best views of Mt. Everest and other mountains.

Day 05:  Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m - 05hrs.
After a wonderful stop with free days at Namche, morning walk leads to nice winding path through rhododendron and pine tree forest with views of Amadablam, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tharmarserku and Kwangde peak.

After few short ups walk descends to Imjatse River at Phunge Tenga, for lunch and then afternoon walk leads to a climb of few hours into pristine forest to reach at Tengboche Monastery.

Tengboche Monastery located on a small plateau with wonderful views of Amadablam, Kangtenga, Thamserku, Kwangde and Mt. Everest.  A holy spot as the head lama (Rinpoche) resides in this famous monastery, where mountain expedition climbers receives blessing from a high priest (Rinpoche) for successful and safe climb.

Day 06:  Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m - 05 hrs.
Morning with eye catching views of mountains, our journey starts with a long descend through beautiful birch-rhododendron and pines forest, and then crossing a bridge over Imja Khola.

From here tree lines stops for short bushes of juniper and dwarf rhododendron bushes (azalea), after the bridge a slow climb brings your at Pangboche, this is the last permanent village further up are temporary settlements to cater the needs of travelers with fine cozy lodges.

Walk leads slowly into exposed areas of windswept landscapes with grand close views of Mt. Amadablam with gradual up and crossing the last small bridge reaches you at Dingboche for another town night stops.

Dingboche located on scenic Imjatse valley a summer grazing areas for yaks, at present with many good lodges with great panorama of mountains with views of Island peak, Lhotse-Nuptse and North Face of Amadablam. 

Day 07:  Rest day in Dingboche for acclimatization and short hike.

Rest day in Dingboche for better acclimatization, morning take a slow walk uphill to Nagarjun hill for best views of surrounding peaks including Mt. Makalu towards east, one can take a walk to Chukung the last human settlement with beautiful views along the trail, taking more than 4-5 hours and back.

Day 08:  Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m - 05 hrs.

After Dingboche, climb uphill for an hour then a nice good walk to Thugla ( Dugla) on the midway of Pheriche-Dingboche and Lobuche, with views of Taboche, Cholatse, Lobuche, Pumori, Amadablam.  Thugla a popular lunch spot for people heading up hill to Everest base camp, after a lunch break an hour climb to a ridge known as Thug-la pass festooned with many memorials of unfortunate climbers, who died on Everest-Lhotse-Pumori expeditions. 

From this lovely spot an hour more of pleasant walk brings you at Lobuche on route Everest base camp.

Day 09: Trek to Gorakshep 5,170 m, Everest Base Camp 5, 364 m - 06 hrs.

Morning walk leads on gradual trail with few short steep up gaining high altitude with superb views of Mt. Pumori, Lingtrin, Khumbutse and Mt. Everest.

After few hours of scenic trekking reaching at Gorakshep after walking past moraine and glaciers, Gorakshep with few nice lodges for overnight stop, this isolated spot located beneath Kalapathar Hill and Pumori peak on route Everest base camp.

Gorakshep was the earlier and original base camp in 1950’s to 1970’s, from here our journey continues walking over moraines and glaciers trail to reach our main highlight of the adventure at Everest base camp.

Everest Base Camp located beneath massive Khumbu Ice Falls and glaciers, this super spot with immense views can be crowded during peak expedition season around April and May months, here enjoy surrounding views with Mt. Everest hidden behind high peaks of Lho-la and Nuptse.

On reaching our destination and highlight return back to Gorakshep for last overnight stop around high and beautiful Khumbu valley.

Day 10: Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m and trek to Pheriche 4, 240 m - 05 hrs.
Starting early morning to reach Kalapathar with steep climb for few hours, on reaching the top of black rocky ridge, enjoy super panorama views of giant peaks including Mt. Everest at close distance, on top Kalapathar highest point of the adventure at 5,545 m / 18,192 ft.

After a fantastic time on top of scenic Kalapathar, return walk downhill to Gorakshep and then continue trek to reach Pheriche valley for overnight stop, walk leads on same trail to Thugla, after crossing a small bridge then down to Pheriche windy valley.

A nice walk of few hours to reach at the end of the valley at Pheriche for overnight stop, this windy spot has many good lodges with HRA (Himalayan Rescue Association) medical post.

Day 11: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m - 05 hrs.

Leaving Pheriche with super morning views of Amadablam, and then on downhill walk with short climb then losing altitude heading past Pangboche and from the bridge back into tree lines with an hour climb to Tengboche Monastery.

Day 12: Trek to Monjo 2,880 m through Namche Bazaar - 06hrs.

Morning walk leads to long descend reaching at Imjatse River in Phunge Tenga, after crossing a bridge with short steep uphill and then on gradual winding trail to Namche Bazaar, after a short break at Namche, continue walk on downhill to Dudh Kosi River valley, and then with short ups and downs to reach at the entrance and exit gate of Sagarmatha National Park, a short walk from brings you at Monjo village for overnight stop.

Day 13:  Trek back to Lukla for last overnight in Khumbu area - 04 hrs walks.
After a marvelous and enjoyable time on high Khumbu valley and ridges with super Everest base camp trek, our last day walk of this adventure leads back on the same trail to Lukla, arriving in Lunch by lunch time with last overnight stop within Everest region, after lunch free and celebrate dinner with fellow members, staff and guides.

Day 14: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Waking early morning to catch the flight back to Kathmandu, transfer to Lukla airport terminal and then board in a small aircraft either twin otter or Dornier, for super scenic flight to reach at Kathmandu, on arrival in Kathmandu airport, transfer to your respective hotels with rest of day free for individual activities and souvenirs shopping.

Day 15: In Kathmandu free and reserve day for individual activities.
An important and necessary to have one extra day in Kathmandu in case of flight delay and cancellation, due to bad unfavorable weather which can happen sometimes as Himalayan weather is unpredictable.

If all goes well as per our itinerary days, one can join in our delightful and interesting tour of Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur, all these places full of world heritage site of historical-culture and religious importance. 

Day 16: International departure for homeward bound.
Your last day in Nepal, amazing country of Himalayan wonders, as per your flight time leaving your hotel where our staff transfers you to airport, after a great memorable adventure with enjoyable time on Everest base camp trek.

Q. Will somebody come to pick me up at the airport upon my arrival?

A. Absolutely! Our Airport Representative will come to the airport to pick you up. Outside of Terminal Hall, he will be displaying a play card of Nepal Everest Base Camp  Treks with your name on it.

Q. What type of accommodation do I expect while I am in Kathmandu & Mountain?

A. Excellent!! Our company will provide you five star category hotels in Kathmandu Radission Hotel and Del’ Annapurna or similar category with inclusive breakfast & best available accommodation duration the trekking as per your programs.

Q. What type of shape do I need to be for this trip?

A. This is suitable for average people who are good health & moderately fit, thus no previous experience is required however to get condition for this trip, some physical fitness programs such as running, swimming, hiking is recommended before you embark on journey. Person who is suffering from pre-existing diseases must seek medical advice with your doctor before considering the any trekking in Nepal. Whilst on the trek, it is common to experience some discomfort before being fully acclimatized.

Q. What is the best time for Trek?

A. We recommend you anytime between 15th February to 15th June in spring & 15th September to 10th December in autumn and spring season is the best time for trek, however, rest of the months are okay and trekking can be done but not as much as nice comparing those season due to winter & raining respectably.But when you will be get leisure time that we can provide prime and suitable trip for you.

Q. Is the food/water safe to drink during the trek?

A. During in mountain, your expert guide will advise you on what you should and shouldn’t eat and drink. The food at the places you will be staying is all safe to eat. Water you can buy bottled or bring along purification tablets. Every lodges/guest house also serve both boiled and filtered water on cheaper price for you to treat accordingly.

Q. I am alone ! Can I join in group?

A. Excellent! If you are not interesting travel alone, we do have several joining trip on every different route, please choose your suitable departure date.

Q. Do you offer Tailor-made Trip?

Q. Can I charge camera batteries along the trek? and how much?

A. Yes, Most of the guest houses you can recharge your camera batteries along the trek approximately cost you USD 2-3 per hour.

Q. What is the weather & temperature like in mountain?

A. Weather in the mountains is notoriously difficult to predict. At night it is generally cooler the days are generally warm. There will be snow during the month of December and February. It is important to make sure that you can stay warm and dry in just about any conditions. Expect the unexpected! The temperature could be as high as 21 deg C to -10 deg C low.

Q. How long have you been in business?

Q. How much should I plan on spending for each meal not included in Kathmandu?

A. In Kathmandu, you can allocate US$ 15 – 20 per meal.

A. It is compulsory !! Nepal High  Trek Pvt. Ltd. cannot be held responsible or liable for loss, damage, or theft of personal luggage and belongings, nor can they be held liable for personal injury, accident or illness. Please ensure that you have yourself and your belongings adequately insured before your departure. If you do not possess a policy, we can issue insurance at competitive rates, however it would be better to purchase your policy locally as this will cover you for repatriation back to your home country.
