Lower Manaslu Scenic Trek is an exciting adventure on off-the-beaten trails, away from the mainstream. Even though, it’s a thrilling trip and most exciting, exploring the rural areas of Mid-West Nepal within the Gorkha district.

A perfect choice for people in search of scenic and cultural trekking around remote corners of the lower Manaslu Region. We have especially designed this short adventure of little more than a week that takes you to far-flung corners. Where few groups of trekkers seldom venture, around the lovely villages of Barphak and Laprak. Populated by the Gurung and Magar people, the main ethnic tribes of the Western Himalayas are enriched with age-old heritage cultures.

Off Beaten Lower Manaslu Trekking Trail

Exploring nice rural farm villages in the close shades of high Himalayan peaks of Boudha Himal Chuli, and Manaslu range. The walk takes you from the low warm farm country of paddy fields to cooler high scenic hills. Furthermore, covered in a dense serene forest lined with tall rhododendrons, pines, and fir trees around pristine surroundings.

An enjoyable walk with time to observe the local customs of ancient traditions observing both Hindu and Buddhist cultures. Untouched and undisturbed by modern civilization takes you back into a medieval era of primitive and simple farm life.

Hence, the Lower Manaslu Scenic Trek begins with an interesting overland journey from Kathmandu towards the Mid-West. The district of Gorkha is a historical country and the late Shah Kingdom. The Shah regime unified all smaller kingdoms into one Nepal, where you can visit the fort palace in Gorkha Bazaar.

A Great Opportunity to close with Nature & Fascinating Cultures

An exciting area of Gorkha and the Lower parts of Manaslu are full of heavily farmed cultivated fields and terraces. The walk leads into a beautiful forest of tall rhododendrons, oaks, and pine trees, facing views of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal.

Reaching the highest point on the scenic ridge of Darche Danda at 3,220 m, overlooking a glorious panorama of snow peaks. The view extends as far as the Annapurna Himalaya range in the west, along with dramatic landscape scenery. Similarly, the trek follows the lovely villages of Barphak and Laprak, adorned with immense cultures of Gurung, the highlanders of the Mid-West.

After a wonderful walk and exploring typical mountain villages, slowly the adventure comes to an end. Where drive leads you back to Kathmandu, after a memorable experience on Lower Manaslu Scenic & Cultural Trekking.

Outline Itinerary of short Manaslu Trek

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 1,350 m/ 4,428 feet transfer to Hotel.
Day 02: Drive to Gorkha Bazaar 1,060 m / 3,476 feet – 05 hrs.
Day 03: Drive to Siran-Danda 1,900 m/ 6,232 feet-04 hours.
Day 04: Trek to Barphak 1,920 m / 6,297 feet -06 hours.
Day 05: Trek to Laprak village 2,100 m/ 6,888 feet -05 hours.
Day 06: Trek to Nambi Kharka 2,700 m / 8,856 feet -04 hours.
Day 07: Trek to Tallo Thotneri 1, 560 m / 5, 118 feet via Darche Danda at 3,220 m / 10, 564 feet high -07 hours walks.
Day 08: Trek to Ghyampesal 970 m / 5, 348 feet – 06 hours.
Day 09: From Ghyampesal drive to Kathmandu for -06 hours.

Details Itinerary

On the first arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal international airport, our staff and guide receive you with a traditional welcome. A short drive to your hotel, situated in the main part of the city, and then check into your rooms. After getting refresh join with other members of the group for trek briefing, our Tamang Randomness Treks guide. Will provide necessary information regarding the trek, and culture with do’s and don’ts making your holiday in Nepal enjoyable.

Evening a group dinner in a nice Nepalese restaurant with folk cultural programs, an introduction to Nepalese meals and culture.

The morning after breakfast and getting ready for an overland journey as per the size of the group. Either in private cars, coach on in the comfort of a Tourist Bus, for an interesting drive to Nepal Mid-West. Reaching a historical hill town in Gorkha, located on a hill, a historical town of the old Shah Dynasty palace.

Towers above Gorkha town, from here King Prithivi Narayan Shah started the conquest of the country’s different smaller kingdoms and unified into a single nation to one Nepal.

After breakfast, taking a few hour rides to Bhachek farm village reaching our destination to Siran-Danda. The drive follows the Darundi River facing views of Snow Mountains, then reaching Bhachek through a small place of Chanute.

After a refreshing stop, the hike starts to Siran-Danda for an hour, a beautiful hilltop, and a plateau. Enjoy a visit to Nage-Pokhari, Dudh-Pokhari and the small tea garden are the main highlights of Siran-Danda. The area is also famous for beautiful wildflowers and herbs, after an exciting day transfer into a lodge. Which serves a homestay, run and managed by the village communities, having local meals of organic farm products.

A pleasant morning, having breakfast start the day walk to Ghyachok heading through a small farm area of Mathar. A gradual winding hilly trail, as a walk, leads to Barphak village, past Dewalsar, following a Sum stream and Darudi River.
Walk towards Goje, Alagang, finally reaching Barphak by late afternoon facing views of the sunset, reflecting on high snow-capped peaks.

After breakfast, a short tour of Barphak interesting village, the main epicenter of the massive earthquake. Which was in the month of April and May 2015, the whole village is returning back to normal life. After mass destruction from the earthquakes, the village is near of completion of its restoration.

The walk leads to Basukang, where two trail branches off, where one leads to high Rupina La Pass. The trail follows continues towards our overnight destination at Laprak, another lovely hill village that is a fantastic symbol of unity here. Arriving at Laprak by late afternoon before dusk, transfer to a nice cottage which is part of the Home Stay program.

An enjoyable walk on today’s section of the trek, allows trekkers to explore the local farming and animal husbandry. Our destination towards Nambi Kharka, which means rich pastureland for cattle herders. The trail follows short and scenic walks with a few steep climbs to a high hill of Myas Bhanjyang.

Offers a spectacular panorama of surrounding beautiful landscape scenery with distant snow-capped peaks. Enjoy having a short rest on this short stretch of walks, and continue the hike to Nambi Kharka for overnight in another Home-Stay cottage.

Today is the longest walk of the trip, start the day as early as possible. The trail leads to a steep climb on top Darche Danda, the highest point of the trek. From the top facing a glorious panorama of a stunning sunrise over rolling green hills as it reflects on Himalayan peaks. Facing views of the whole massif range of Annapurna Himalayas with Vara-Shikar / Annapurna Fang, Gangapurna, Sringi Himal. Includes Langtang, Himal Chuli, and Bauddha Himal with Ganesh Himal.

After a great scenic view, the walk continues reaching another lovely Gurung farm village of Tallo Thotneri overnight. In the comfort of a nice simple Home Stay hut, after a long day walk.

After breakfast, visit the religious Sita Cave of Tallo Thotneri and then start the day following the path within a tropical forest to Sita Cave. A sacred site for Hindu devotees and pilgrims visits the cave for offering and worships. After visiting Sita Cave, the walk leads to Gyaji and then heads further down to Gyampesal village for an overnight halt. The last and final ending point of our Lower Manaslu Trek. Overnight in a tent or a staying in the comfort of village Home Stay at Gyampesal.

Completing our marvelous trek at Ghyampesal village, from here an early morning drive from Gyampesal to the Gorkha Bazaar. A rough ride on the dirt road for a few hours before reaching Gorkha Bazaar. From the town of Gorkha, either on a private jeep/car or taking a regular local bus to Kathmandu. The drive is pleasant on the main highway through many farm villages and towns. As the drive ends on reaching at Kathmandu by late afternoon or evening time.

Last day in Kathmandu and Nepal, as time for your international flight our staff and guide transfer you to the airport. For international flights homeward bound. After a great adventure and wonderful experience around Lower Manaslu Scenic & Cultural Trekking.
