Short Everest Base Camp Trek, covering a distance of 110 km or 60.05 miles both ways to and from Lukla to Lukla. After flying from Kathmandu in the shortest duration of a time frame within ten days. Option 01: Short Trek Itinerary to Everest Base Camp

Day 01: Fly to Lukla 2,820 m and trek to Phakding 2,645 m – 04 hrs.

Day 02: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m / 11, 350 feet – 06 hrs.

Day 03: At Namche for acclimatization and a short scenic hike to the viewpoint.

Day 04: Trek to Tengboche 3,867 m – 05 hrs.

Day 05: Trek to Dingboche 4,340 m – 05 hrs.

Day 06: Trek to Lobuche 4,960 m – 05 hrs.

Day 07: Labuche to Mount Everest Base Camp 5,380 m via Gorakshep 5,180 m -06 hrs.

Day 08: Climb Kalapathar 5,643 m / 18,514 feet and trek to Pangboche 3,900 m via Pheriche – 6 hrs.

Day 09: Trek to Namche Bazaar via Tengboche – 06 hrs.

Day 10: Last day walk to Lukla – 06 hrs.

Day 11: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu with afternoon free at leisure.

Option 02: Short trek Itinerary to Everest Base Camp taking a helicopter:

With one more option taking a helicopter flight from Gorakshep to reach Kathmandu and making the adventure much shorter of a week duration.

The best Everest Base Camp Trekking Packages for 2024/2025

The above first option of 10 days with 11 nights from Lukla to Lukla is the only possible way to reach base camp and return back where you started at Lukla. The second option of 7 nights and 8 days flying on a helicopter from Gorakshep after visiting Everest Base Camp and climbing on top of Kalapathar hill, this will make the trek shorter and save three days.

Both short Everest base camp trek starts from a popular and busy Sherpa town with a STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) airstrip. Besides trekking to Everest Camp, Lukla is also the gateway of many various treks and adventures around the Khumbu and Everest regions. The 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek starts from Lukla following the Dudh Kosi River and on a pleasant trail through several lovely villages to enter Sagarmatha National Park, designated as a World Heritage Site.

Sagarmatha a name for Everest in Nepalese while local Sherpa calls it Chomolungma of Tibetan origin language, from here head towards a nice lovely forest of tall rhododendrons, pines, and fir trees. A winding uphill of more than 600 meters climbs to reach at the famous Namche Bazaar, where rest days are necessary and very important for acclimatization before heading to higher ground. From here on, head towards Everest Base Camp with one steeper climb to reach at scenic Tengboche Monastery surrounded by green alpine forest with time here to visit the impressive Buddhist Monastery of great interest.

A beautiful hilltop offers a stunning panorama of the high snow-capped mountain with Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and majestic views of Amadablam, this will be the last of green tree lines. The walk continues heading towards windswept landscapes getting closer to Everest base camp with overnights in Dingboche and Lobuche, and then reaching the main highlight at the bottom of number one Mt. Everest at base camp. After an exciting moment return to Gorakshep for the last overnight stop on the high valley of Khumbu, where the next early morning climb takes you to the highest spot at Kalapathar rocky hill.

Enjoy fantastic views of the surrounding mountain range with Mt. Everest at a close distance then head back downhill to Lukla after overnight in Pangboche and Namche Bazaar. At Lukla ends the adventure before flying to Kathmandu, after a lovely daring experience on a short Everest base camp.
