We will fly to Tumlingtar via Tribhuwan International Airport Kathmandu. Experience the magnificent scenery of the snow-covered mountains from the aircraft. We can see the numerous peaks like Makalu, Ganesh Himal, and Mt. Kanchenjunga. Our drive to Num village begins as you reach Tumlingtar, passing via Khandbari and Hururu.
Today our first-day walk starts with a downhill and up to Seduwa village, a steep descent to the bridge over the raging Arun River around this place quite tropical, and then with a climb towards farm fields and small villages of Runmura, here with lunch break and then with a gradual climb to reach overnight stop at Seduwa village, a small place with primary school and small health post with views of Num across the ridge and of other adjoining hills of Bhojpur and Jalajala rocky peaks.
Today after breakfast we will head to Tashi Gaun through the beautiful places. We will be going passes several Buddhist Mani walls and up stone stairs. Additionally, we will be traversing farmlands, rhododendrons, and bamboo-filled woodlands as we walk. The sounds of chattering birds can be heard while walking through a deep forest. Birds such as cuckoos, singing thrushes, and barbets reside in the woodland. Downhill to a bridge, pass through the little settlement of Chyaksa Danda. To reach Tashigaon, we will need to climb several stone steps. overnight at a local guest house.
Today we're leaving Tashi Gaon the last village for a week long morning walk on the gentle path into the thick forest of rhododendrons, oaks, and tall pine trees. The trail passed many cattle herder’s temporary shelters of shades and stone huts after a few hours of pleasant walk stopping for lunch on the grassy meadow and summer pasture ground.
Afternoon walks with a steep climb for a few hours to reach at Kaungma ridge top, as the tall trees give away smaller rhododendrons and juniper bushes, and small birch trees. This high ridge offers excellent views of the Kanchenjunga mountain range and of Mt. Makalu with adjoining peaks, from here in complete wilderness.
Today a journey starts from Kaungma Danda morning walk on a ridge line following a gradual path with few ups and down reaching at icy ponds of Thulo Pokhari (big) with Sano Pokhari(small) after crossing Tutu-la and Shipton la at above 4, 453 meters passes. After then downhill back into the forest with views of the Khumbakarna Himal range of mountains towards the north, overnight camp on level ground in the middle of tall trees.
Today's walks lead to scenic Barun Valley famous for rare species of vegetation- plants and herbs including wildlife, starting the morning with downhill for an hour and crossing a small stream to reach Barun Valley. Along the trail, you can immerse in the various vegetation and spectacular peaks around the valley. The trail, walk with gentle up views of peaks on both sides of the valley passing a few Sheppard’s shelters with a small Buddhist Gompa (monastery), after a pleasant walk of 5 hours reaching at Nehe Kharka for overnight camp around Barun valley.
From Barun valley walk to Shersong leading at the end valley near Makalu base camp leading on gentle uphill crossing streams with great views of Mt. Makalu and Baruntse peaks, after a nice walk of 5 hours reaching at our destination at Sherson for two nights camps.
Today we have time to acclimatization day hike up the viewpoint of Mt. Makalu, Baruntse peaks with peak IV, morning an optional hike for excellent views of Mt. Everest with rare East Face known as Kanshung face with Lhotse.
Today in early morning we go to visit to the world’s 5th base camp of Makalu and its lies at 4870 m above sea level. We will also view Makalu and it’s overawe face covered with icefalls, crevasses, sharp edges, and seracs. We will be walking on a route with several curves. The path continues to drop, and we cross a river before arriving at the Makalu Base Camp.
Retrace the journey back on the Barun valley to Yangle Kharka enclosed within high rocky cliffs with views of cascading waterfalls after a descent reaching the overnight camp at Cow herders temporary summer grazing place at Yangle-Kharka.
After a wonderful time at Barun Valley, the walk leads past the valley with a climb to reach back into thick woodland at Mumbuk for overnight camp.
On the same trail back to Khoma ridge morning walk with a climb for an hour or more through the forest on reaching the hill top ridge leaving the tree lines, and passing the ponds and over Tutu la and Shipton la reaching at Khoma Ridge for overnight camp.
Today we will head to the Narbu Gaon and the mostly trail is decent. The trail towards into a forest of tall tree lines to reach villages and farm fields, on reaching at Tashigaon taking a different higher route to Nawa gaon village, through the cool shade of woodlands and farm terraces and then reach a large Sherpa village of Narbugaon on for an overnight stop, with afternoon free to explore this nice farm village.
From Narbugaon our last day walk of this wonderful adventure leading downhill with few short up to Seduwa gaon after a rest here continue descend on a steep path to Arun River, after crossing a bridge a steep climb for a few hours to reach at Num village for last overnight around the high hills of Makalu.
After a wonderful time on the high hills and mountains with farm villages, from Num take an exciting drive on the rough road passing past villages with beautiful views of surrounding green hills and peaks, after a few hours of drive reaching at Khadbari, a major town and headquarter of Sanka Sambua district of Makalu region. From here an hour downhill back to Tumlingtar in the comfort of a nice lodge.
From Tumlingtar with an early breakfast then bidding farewell with rest of the camping staff and porters, with our main guide walk to Tumlingtar small airport for a sweeping flight to Kathmandu, after a wonderful flight with views of snow-clad peaks reach Kathmandu, then transfer to your hotel with rest of the day free at leisure.
