Samagaon is the last densely populated village in Manaslu Base Camp Trek route. Upon reaching this village, trekkers hike to the base camp and return again back to Samagaon for overnight sleep.
It is not possible to spend overnight at the Manaslu Base Camp unless you have your own tents and cooking crew members. There is a possibility to spend overnight at the base camp but we recommend that it is futile! In high altitude trekking you need to assess your body and prepare for the worst. The journey of Manaslu Trek traverses from low altitude as low as 700 m to 5106 m. Therefore, the change in an altitude results in the change of landscape and vegetation. Trekkers start their journey in temperate deciduous forests regions just near 700 m from sea level and finishes at Trans – Himalayan High Altitude places.
During this trek, trekkers get to know about low altitude hilly people’s culture like Brahmins, Chhetris, Dalits, Ghale, Tamang and Gurungs! However, as the landscape changes so does the behaviour of people. In the early phase of this trekking, trekkers experience terraced farmlands and vegetation of temperate deciduous forests. As the trekking move high altitude places, trekkers start to experience grassy meadows and plateau like farmlands where only uwa and potatoes are grown. People are either Gurungs or Tibetan Nepalese! The landscape changes and vegetation in these places are either sub – alpine or tundra. These contrasting things are the essential components of Nepal’s rural settings. Early in the morning drive to the new bus park by taxi 10m then catch the local deluxe bus. We will travel to Machhakhola driving through the Dhading and Gorkha districts of Nepal. Only about 20 kilometers are graveled roads but others are black-topped tarred roads. Machhakhola village is on the bank of the Budi Gandaki River and we will spend a night here. You can explore around the authentic Ghale village with beautiful hills and charming culture. Overnight at local teahouse.
After breakfast, crossing the bridges will be a regular activity on this day as we navigate through terraced farmlands and trek higher to Jagat. The trail is relatively easy on this day. We will have well well-leveled trail as well as a few uphill. There are more than two waterfalls on this route. Relish the surrounding scenery and enjoy your Manaslu Base Camp Trek journey to the fullest. The altitude is less and the walking is just the second day so your body will fully immerse into the trekking activity. Overnight at the local teahouse.
After breakfast, we will continue trekking in the uphill terrain with ridge Budi gandaki valley. The vegetation and the landscape start to differ as we trek higher. Our lunch stop will be at Chisapani and then we will continue to trek through hilly terrain and terraced farmlands. There is a high chance of falling stones. Therefore, please be careful and watch out for the falling stones. Overnight at local teahouse.
We will have to pass through the rocky gorges on this day. The Namrung village is one of the massive villages and where you can immerse in the nature and culture of the valley. We will have our lunch at Ghap and continue the journey towards Namrung. Once we reach the village we will explore the place and also visit the Buddhist monastery and local culture. Overnight at the local teahouse
This is a very special day as we will visit the monastery as well as spend overnight in the candy-shaped beautiful village of Shyala. We will have lunch at beautiful Lho village and this village is one of the most beautiful with a historical Buddhist monastery on the hilltop. On this day you will visit the monastery and fully immerse in the culture of the region. The Manaslu Base Camp Trek offers great insights of the Tibetan Buddhist culture and traditions. After breakfast, we will visit the Pungyen monastery the oldest monastery of the region and have breakfast in the teahouse. After breakfast, we will continue to walk on the trail that is open with a gorgeous view of the mountains and hills. In Samagaon, we will explore the village and understand the daily chores of the people living in the village. This is the second last village on the trail that has a huge settlement of people. In the places beyond Samagaon, you will find only the places with hamlets of few teahouses. Overnight at teahouse
High-altitude trekking requires proper acclimatization and so we recommend visiting the beautiful Manaslu base camp on this day. During this trip, we will do the acclimatization of a day hike to the base camp of the world’s 8th tallest mountain Mt. Manaslu. Once we visit the base camp. Where you can see the magnificent Birendra Lake, the Manaslu base camp glacier with diverse vegetation, and the stunning Manaslu Himalayas. We will again return to Samagaon and it takes 5 to 7 hours up and downhill. Overnight at the local teahouse
After a wonderful stay in Samagaun, we'll continue our trip to Samdo through the high-altitude trail. There are uphill and downhill sections in the trail but largely there are uphill activities. Always stick to the trekking leader and soak into the attractions of the trail. Don’t go too fast and don’t go too slow in the group. Ask questions and enjoy your trek. Overnight at the local teahouse.
Finally, we will reach the Larke La Phedi and it has surrounded by the majesty Himalayas. This is the big day as the next day we will be crossing the Larke La Pass 5106m. Dharmasala is a small place with very few teahouses. Prepare for a great day tomorrow. Overnight at the local teahouse.
Early in the morning, we will embark on our quest to cross the Larke La Pass. This is the stunning and challenging high pass in the Manaslu region. Therefore, we have to start early. We will pack our breakfast and start walking to cross the pass. We will have our breakfast along the way and finally enter the Annapurna region of Nepal Trekking. We will spend 20 – 25 minutes at the top of the pass and relish the view of the gorgeous mountains. From Larkya la the trail is completely decent to Bimthang and combing down becarefully walk. On this pass highly suggest to bring the crampons for the safety and comfort. Overnight at the local teahouse.
We will walk towards Tilje village and we will have lunch at Surkekhola then will reach at Tilje village. From Tilje village we'll drive to Besisahar by local sharing jeep and it takes 3 hours to get to Besisahar. The road is bumpy but the waterfalls and terraced farmlands will keep us occupied. We will enjoy with the success party together with the trekking crew members on the last night of the trekking. Overnight at the local Guest House.
We will drive back to Kathmandu by local sharing a deluxe bus or mini hiace. The drive will be quite long but you will have an opportunity to explore the various scenarios of hilly region. In Kathmandu, Nepal High Trek will host a farewell cultural dinner and recollect all the memories of the trekking in Nepal.
Today is your last day in the land of the Himalayas Nepal. We will arrange airport drop-off service and our crews will drop you at the airport with respectively. However, better to leave 3 hours before the hotel and within 35 minutes you will get to the airport.
