Details Itinerary

The day starts early with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, a small village that serves as the gateway to the Langtang Valley trek. The drive takes approximately 7-8 hours, passing through the lush hills and terraced farmlands of rural Nepal, with views of the Langtang Himalaya range in the distance. As you make your way out of Kathmandu and into the Trisuli Valley, you'll pass through small towns like Trisuli Bazaar and Dhunche before finally reaching Syabrubesi. This village, located at around 1,460 meters (4,790 feet), will be your first overnight stop. After checking into your lodge, you can relax and prepare for the trek ahead.

Today marks the beginning of your trek. After a hearty breakfast, you'll start your journey towards Gatlang, a picturesque Tamang village that lies at an altitude of 2,240 meters (7,350 feet). The trek begins with a gentle ascent, and as you walk, you'll be surrounded by lush forests, terraced fields, and distant views of snow-capped peaks. The trail will lead you through dense rhododendrons and oak forests, and you'll cross several suspension bridges over the Bhote Koshi River. Along the way, you may pass small villages and witness the traditional lifestyle of the locals. Upon reaching Gatlang, you'll be greeted with warm hospitality and a chance to enjoy a stunning sunset view over the surrounding mountains.

On this day, you will continue your journey towards Tatopani, which means "hot water" in Nepali, a name that hints at the natural hot springs in the area. The trek to Tatopani takes around 5-6 hours, and the trail gradually descends into the gorge of the Langtang River. Along the way, you will pass through beautiful terraced fields and dense forest, and you may encounter local wildlife such as monkeys and various bird species. Once you reach Tatopani, you can take a dip in the hot springs, a perfect way to relax and soothe your muscles after the day's trek. Tatopani is located at an altitude of 1,200 meters (3,940 feet), and the tranquil surroundings make it an excellent place to unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains.

Today, the trail takes you further up into the Langtang region as you trek towards Thuman, a traditional Tamang village known for its unique culture and scenic views. The trek will take approximately 5-6 hours, with a moderate ascent that will bring you to an altitude of about 2,380 meters (7,810 feet). The trail passes through rhododendron and pine forests, offering occasional glimpses of the surrounding peaks. As you approach Thuman, you’ll experience the rich cultural heritage of the local Tamang people, who are known for their Tibetan-influenced customs and lifestyle. Upon reaching the village, you can explore the area and interact with the friendly locals.

From Thuman, the trail ascends gradually towards Briddim, a charming village at an altitude of 2,230 meters (7,320 feet). The trek today will take about 5-6 hours, passing through forests and small settlements. Briddim is a beautiful Tamang village where you can witness traditional Tibetan-style houses and monasteries. Briddim is known for its authentic cultural experiences, and you will have the chance to engage with the local people and learn about their way of life. The village is also famous for its Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and prayer flags, making it an ideal place to rest and enjoy the serenity of the mountains.

After breakfast, you will continue your trek towards Lama Hotel, located at an altitude of 2,480 meters (8,140 feet). The trail today is a bit more challenging as you make your way deeper into the Langtang Valley. You’ll follow the river, crossing several suspension bridges, and eventually enter a dense forest of oak and rhododendron. Lama Hotel is a popular resting point for trekkers on the Langtang Valley route. It is a peaceful spot surrounded by mountains and lush greenery. After a long day of trekking, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Today, the trail takes you deeper into the Langtang Valley. You will trek towards Langtang village, which is located at an altitude of 3,430 meters (11,253 feet). The trek will take approximately 6-7 hours, with a steady ascent through forests and alpine meadows.

As you approach Langtang, the scenery becomes more dramatic, with stunning views of the snow-capped peaks of Langtang Lirung (7,227 meters / 23,711 feet) and other nearby mountains. Langtang village itself was partially destroyed during the 2015 earthquake, but efforts have been made to rebuild the area, and it remains a charming place to visit.

This is one of the most exciting days of the trek, as you make your way to Kyanjin Gompa, a spiritual center and a small Tibetan Buddhist monastery at an altitude of 3,870 meters (12,697 feet). The trek to Kyanjin Gompa will take around 3-4 hours and will bring you to a higher altitude, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Langtang Himal range.

Kyanjin Gompa is a peaceful place where you can visit the monastery and explore the surrounding area. From here, you will also be able to see the glacier at the base of Langtang Lirung, and the views of the surrounding peaks are absolutely breathtaking. The area offers great photo opportunities, and it’s a good spot for acclimatization.

Today is a bit more demanding but rewarding. You will embark on a day hike to Tsergo Ri, a peak at an altitude of 4,980 meters (16,338 feet). The hike is not for the faint-hearted, but it offers some of the most stunning panoramic views of the Langtang region, including peaks like Langtang Lirung, Yala Peak, and the entire Langtang range.

After reaching the summit and enjoying the views, you will descend back to Kyanjin Gompa for the night. The hike to Tsergo Ri offers a real sense of accomplishment and allows you to take in some of the best views of the trek.

After a fulfilling day at Kyanjin Gompa, today you will retrace your steps as you descend back to Lama Hotel. The return trek is mostly downhill, and it will take around 6-7 hours to reach Lama Hotel. Descending through forests and small villages, you’ll enjoy the changing scenery and the tranquility of the mountains as you make your way back.

Your final day of trekking will take you back to Syabrubesi, where you began your journey. The trek will take around 4-5 hours as you descend back through the forested trail and eventually return to the village. You’ll have a chance to reflect on your incredible journey through the Langtang Valley. Upon reaching Syabrubesi, you can rest and relax, perhaps enjoying a well-deserved celebratory meal with your fellow trekkers.

After breakfast, you’ll be driven back to Kathmandu. The journey takes about 7-8 hours, and along the way, you can enjoy the scenic views of the Trisuli River and the surrounding hills. Upon arriving in Kathmandu, you’ll have the afternoon free to explore or do some last-minute shopping. In the evening, you can enjoy a farewell dinner in a traditional Nepali restaurant, where you can reflect on your amazing trek
