Annapurna Circuit Trek Package

Well, today’s blog is completely different than our usual blogs! We are talking about the oldest trekking route of Nepal. There are numerous debates about the journey in the Annapurna Circuit Trek route due to the construction of roads that shortened the trekking distance. People often argue whether to trek independently or get the Annapurna Circuit Trek Package. Cons and pros are part of everyday life. Therefore, we try to analyze all the details about this magnificent journey in the heart of the Annapurna Region!

We put together this trip because, frankly, walking the entire massif is mind-blowing. It changes people. Most trekkers want the raw, unfiltered high-altitude experience without the migraine of arranging tricky jeep rides or haggling for beds. That’s exactly what we offer here. You get the sweat, the thin air, and the surreal mountain sunrises. Let your trekking company handle the annoying logistics. From Kathmandu up to the biting cold of Thorong La and back down, agency got your back. Sounds like a fair trade, right? Yes, it is indeed the best and smart choice of going on a trek.

Think of this as your master plan for the Himalayas. We cram three weeks of epic walking into a highly optimized timeline. You'll start low in sticky, humid jungles before pushing up into moon-like high-altitude deserts. It’s wild. We include your permits, solid guides who actually know the weather patterns, and guaranteed warm beds when you really need them. Honestly, trying to piece this all together on your own is a massive headache. We just strip away the stress so you can focus on breathing. Simply, enjoy the journey into the Himalayan wilderness by booking the Annapurna Base Camp with Annapurna Circuit Trek Package.

Why Choose Our Annapurna Circuit Trek Package?

The biggest reason behind booking the Annapurna Circuit Trek Package is to enjoy hassle free trekking journey. Look, anyone can book a jeep and a teahouse. Your agency does things a little differently. Agency like the Nepal High Trek operated the trek in these specific dirt trails so many times and the crew members’ boots know the way by themselves. We don't just dump you on the crowded main paths, either. Whenever possible, we steer our groups onto the quieter, older trekking routes away from the dusty roads. Besides, our guides are locals who can spot altitude sickness before you even feel the headache. We actually care if you make it over the pass.

Generally, trekking in the trail that includes the Thorong La Pass but also modern dirt road tracks, you need aesthetic trekking trails too! Only the experienced trekking company and its crew members know the trail without any disturbances of dirt tracks and honking jeeps or motorbikes. Therefore, we urge you to choose the Annapurna Circuit Trek Package instead of trying it on your own.

Annapurna Circuit Trek Route, Itinerary, and number of days: Classical vs Modern

Do you know that the classical Annapurna Circuit Trek used to take around 23 days? Yes, the journey used to start from Dumre or Besisahar to Beni or Nayapul via Ghorepani Poon Hill. Now is not the case due to all the construction works on roads in Manang and Mustang! Trekkers trace through roaring Marshyangdi River through narrow gorges and opens up into the vast dry Manang Valley. Upon crossing the Thorong La Pass (5416 m), you reach the Muktinath Temple and Mustang Valley. The road has reached all the way to Muktinath Temple. Thus, the distance has certainly shortened!

Nowadays, it is also possible to do the Annapurna Circuit Trek in just 8 days. Therefore, you can’t compare it with the classical 18 to 23 days of trekking. Obviously, the Annapurna Circuit Trek Package now is lot cheaper and shorter than the classical package. You could try sprinting it in ten days. We strongly advise against that unless you enjoy intense suffering. Honestly, fourteen to sixteen days hits the sweet spot for most folks. That gives us enough time to actually enjoy the scenery instead of just staring at our boots.

Many people wish to add the side trek to the highest fresh water lake of the world, The Tilicho Lake (4919 m). It increases the trek by 2 – 3 days. So, at the end of the day, the decision is yours and you can make decision according to your preferences as well as availability.

Difficulty, Fitness Requirements, Altitude, and Acclimatization

Well, the difficulty level of the trail in terms of steep uphill and downhill can be downplayed in this trail. Most of the trail sections are on the road track with lesser steep uphill – downhill sections. Therefore, people prefer to go on the Annapurna Circuit Cycling Tour too! It is indeed an adventurous way to explore Nepal’s oldest trekking route. The sections between Pisang and Manang from the Ngawal route is harder comparatively. As you move higher, altitude also increases the difficulty level.

Can you hike a local hill for a few hours with a backpack without crying? If so, you’ll probably be fine. We just ask that you spend a couple of months hitting the stair-master or doing some long weekend walks before flying out. Strong legs make happy trekkers.

The air up there is ridiculously thin. We take this stuff deadly seriously because pushing too hard at 4,000 meters can literally end your trip. We always enforce a mandatory rest day in Manang. Well, we call it a "rest" day, but we'll actually force you to hike up a couple of hundred meters and come back down. Climb high, sleep low. It’s a classic mountaineering trick. Honestly, drinking buckets of garlic soup and listening to our guides' pacing advice works wonders. Gangapurna View Point and Gangapurna Lake hike help you acclimatize quickly before ascending to higher elevation places.

Beautiful Waterfall on the way to Chame

Crossing Thorong La Pass: What to Expect?

This is the big boss fight. We wake you up around three in the morning when it is brutally, horribly cold. You will strap on a headlamp, shove some dry porridge down your throat, and start trudging up a seemingly endless incline. Every single step takes monumental effort. But look, when we finally hit that 5,416-meter summit board wrapped in snapping prayer flags?

People literally cry. We hug, snap a few blurry photos, and immediately start the knee-crushing descent. Expect long walking hours and steep uphill and downhill climb all the way to Muktinath Temple from Thorong Phedi or High Camp. The trail is rugged and full of pebbles! Sometimes the trail may be covered in snow and you may have to use crampons.

Best Time for Annapurna Circuit Trek

Make sure that you book the Annapurna Circuit Trek Package for the months of spring and autumn season. This blogger absolutely loves October and November. Please check our Annapurna Circuit Trek in October blog to know more about details of trekking experiences in this month. You can find the blog in our website! Monsoon rains have scrubbed the skies clean, leaving insanely crisp mountain views, though the trails get pretty crowded.

Spring is our second favorite window. March and April bring warmer days and whole forests exploding with wild rhododendrons. Now, what about winter or summer? Don't do it. We refuse to take people up there when the pass is buried in avalanche debris or the lower trails are swarming with aggressive leeches. It’s better to avoid monsoon season but to explore lower areas of the trail, you can choose winter season too! Just remember that the pass may be closed during winter season.

Annapurna Circuit Trek Cost and Package Price

Let’s talk numbers. We generally price these trips between $900 and $ 1,500 for the standard regular trekking package. Could you do it cheaper solo? Sure, if you want to eat plain rice and carry your own heavy bag. Our package basically buys your peace of mind. You can check out the Annapurna Circuit Budget Trek package to regular standard luxury packages. Therefore, the price varies and it starts from 650 $. Check out the includes and excludes of the Annapurna Circuit Trek package before booking it! The travel site of the Nepal High Trek clearly gives you chance to choose from different options. So, go through it before booking it!

Magnificient Landscapes of Annapurna

Tea House Accommodation, Food and Drinking Water During the Trek

Expect quality tea houses in the Annapurna Circuit Trek route. It being one of the oldest and commercial trekking routes of Nepal, there are much more improvements than in many trekking trails of Nepal. For example, you get good lodging facilities in the Annapurna Circuit Trek than in the Manaslu Circuit Trek. I would not say that the quality of tea houses are better than the tea houses of the Everest Base Camp Trek route but certainly not lesser! Trekkers can get basic tea houses to good lodges but higher elevation places like Ledar, Yak Kharka, Tilicho Base Camp, Thorong High Camp, and Thorong Phedi may not provide such luxury.

Meals are pretty much similar in almost all commercial trekking routes of Nepal. Travelers can enjoy Nepalese dishes, Chinese, Indian, and continental. But the top not recommendation is always Dal Bhat! Besides this staple diet of Nepalese people, food like noodles (Chowmein) and MOMO are also comfort foods while trekking in the trail. Bottled water is found everywhere but hot drinking water carried in your personal bottle is recommended for cost and sustainable tourism practice point of view.

Internet, Wi-Fi, Electricity and Mobile Network

Recently, the network has improved drastically. New towers of NTC mobile network have been installed in Manang. You can enjoy 2G and 4G networks in Manang and surrounding villages. However, as you go higher, the networks start to disappear and it again reconnects after crossing the Thorong La Pass.

Don't expect blazing fast speeds up there. We usually tell people to buy a local sim card in Kathmandu, which works surprisingly well for the first few days. But after Chame? It gets super patchy and largely depends upon the weather conditions too. The teahouses will gladly sell you Wi-Fi access for a few bucks, but it barely loads a text message when thirty trekkers are sharing the router. They also charge by the hour to plug in your phone. Honestly, bringing a hefty power bank is a lifesaver.

Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake

If we have an extra three days, we always try to squeeze this in. It is absolutely brutal. We have to cross these terrifying, slippery scree slopes where one bad step means a very long slide down to the river. But man, the payoff is insane. Tilicho is a massive, blindingly blue glacial lake sitting at almost 5,000 meters. Watching avalanches crash into the water from the opposite bank is something we never, ever get tired of seeing. Please note down that you can actually skip the Thorong La Pass to reach Mustang Valley by choosing the Meso Kanta La Pass route from Tilicho. However, it is rugged and raw less explored which requires experienced trekking guide for navigation.

Frequently asked

Yes, it is possible to add Tilich Lake in this trekking itinerary. This is the popular side hike that starts from Yak Kharka and lasts for about 2 to 3 days. You are adding three days of high-altitude grinding. The trail to base camp is notoriously sketchy with loose rocks, and the final climb to the lake will absolutely wreck your thighs. Is it worth the pain? A hundred percent yes. But we only recommend adding it if you are already feeling incredibly strong in Manang and aren't struggling with the thin air. It’s a spectacular, exhausting detour. Afterall, the journey is to the shores of the world’s highest situated fresh water lake.

We stop moving. Immediately. If you tell us your head is throbbing and you feel nauseous, we don't try to tough it out. We will force you to drink garlic soup, pop an ibuprofen, and rest. If it doesn't get better? We walk down. Altitude sickness is terrifyingly unpredictable. We carry pulse oximeters to check your oxygen levels constantly. We would much rather spend an extra night in Manang than drag a sick trekker up to a 5,000-meter camp.

We do this all the time. The old 21 to 23 days trek is mostly dead because of the new roads. If you are tight on time, we can chop the painful, dusty sections right off. We regularly use jeeps to skip the brutal road-walking from Muktinath down to Jomsom. Want to start higher? We can bounce up to Chame in a 4x4. That said, we never rush the ascent to Manang. We use the cars to skip the boring stuff, not the necessary acclimatization.

Honestly, it’s practically non-existent. We tell everyone to send their texts from Manang because once we push toward Yak Kharka and Thorong Phedi, your phone becomes a useless brick. The mountains completely block the cell towers. You might catch a random, fleeting bar of connection if the wind blows exactly right, but don't count on it. We actually love this dead zone. It forces everyone to stop staring at screens and just talk to each other. Nepal Government took initiative to connect remote mountain areas of Nepal to proper mobile network. Therefore, you can find newly installed 2G and 4G mobile tower in Manang where you can get strong signals but places like Thorong La Pass, Thorong Phedi, Thorong High Camp, Ledar, and Yak Kharka may not have proper signals. Rely on the internet of tea houses in these places.

Nobody wants to drag a massive suitcase full of clean city clothes up a mountain. We don't want to carry it, either. Before we even leave Kathmandu, we have you split your gear. You pack your trekking essentials into the duffel bag our porters carry. The rest of your stuff? We lock it up safely in our hotel storage room back in the city. When we finally stagger back into town, your clean, fresh-smelling clothes will be waiting right there for you. At the Nepal High Trek, our Annapurna Circuit Trek Package includes the storage of your suitcase and luggage in our office as well. Trekkers need to present the things that are in the suitcase before storing in the office. It is the normal procedure to check the belongings before storing. Our office staffs and trekking guides handle the storage of your luggage while you are out on a trek.

We strongly advise bringing a thick stack of Nepalese Rupees. Do not count on ATMs out there. Jomsom has one, but it is notoriously empty or broken half the time. There is one ATM in Manang Village too but these mountain ATMs don’t work when you need the most. We recommend bringing about $20 to $30 a day in local currency. Even though our package covers your main meals and bed, you will desperately want cash for hot showers, a random slice of apple pie in Marpha, or charging your phone. Once you leave the city, cash is absolute king.

Yes, but don't rely on it for anything critical. We’ve seen folks show up realizing they forgot warm gloves, and thankfully, Manang has a few tiny shops stuffed with knock-off gear. You can grab a cheap fleece, trekking poles, or a decent enough hat. Here's the catch. If your boots explode or your main jacket zipper breaks, you are out of luck. Buy your serious hardware back in Kathmandu. Manang is just for emergency band-aids. The village is also the lifeline of the people living in these parts. Tourism has changed the face of the village. Therefore, you may find essential items but the cost of these gear and equipment may cost astronomically higher than in Kathmandu.

That new dirt road drives purists crazy, but we actually use it to our advantage. There are different sections where road has reached. Nowadays, a jeep can go as high as Manang Village. However, taking jeep all the way to this village may bring lots of difficulties especially altitude sickness. Therefore, we avoid walking when jeeps are honking and motorbikes constantly pass by in the trail. Instead, we use jeep to Chame Village and start the trek. On another side after crossing the Thorong La Pass we take on jeep or local bus back to Pokhara or to Tatopani via Jomsom to resume the classical route to Ghorepani.

Flexibility is kind of our secret weapon. We have a set plan, sure. But if your knees are screaming or you suddenly get hit with a nasty stomach bug, we pivot. We can easily add a rest day or chop a long hiking day in half by grabbing beds in a smaller village. That said, pushing the schedule faster is tricky because of acclimatization rules. We won't compromise your safety just because you want to finish a day early. If you buy the Annapurna Circuit Trek Package from the Nepal High Trek, then you will surely be taken care properly. You can change the itinerary but the ultimate decision lies with the trekking guide. He or she will assess the situation and does the needful in such circumstances. It is better to be safe than face the consequences. All the trekking crew members are highly skilled to handle emergency situations and act on the spot. Therefore, changing the trekking itinerary mid – way is possible but too many drastic changes may hinder the overall trekking experiences and may bring safety issues. Please talk in detail with the travel planners before finalizing the Annapurna Circuit Trek Package.
