Short and Moderate Alluring Annapurna Treks

The short and moderate treks to Ghorepani Hill village, follow the Old Trans-Himalaya Salt and Caravan Trade Routes. The trek begins from the scenic city of Pokhara, a renowned tourist holiday spot, blessed with natural beauty. Located under the shade of the massif Annapurna Himalayas and fascinating mountain ranges. After a nice short drive on Pokhara-Baglung Highway, the walk follows through several farm villages on a well-established walking trail. Heading past the lovely village of Bhirethati with views of marvelous waterfalls, a climb on stone steps.

Although this route leads to winding ups crossing a bridge, then on the slow uphill trail to Tirkhedhunga village close to wonderful waterfalls. A steep climb on a 3,000-stone steps path to Ulleri village, populated by Magar hill tribes. Likewise from Ulleri, on a winding path through a forest of tall rhododendrons and pine trees, then reaching Ghorepani village (2860 m).

Hidden Nature & Culture of Annapurna Region

Ghorepani village is situated atop a ridge, at the bottom of the famous scenic Poon Hill and it’s a famous village with several nice luxurious lodges. Moreover, Ghorepani village, inhabited by Poon / Magar people the main tribes of Western Nepal follow both Hindu and Buddhism religions.

Next morning on the high trail to Poon Hill Viewpoint (3210 m) for marvelous sunrise views over a chain of numerous mountain vistas. Overlooking at the world’s three highest peaks of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu, and Mt. Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South and delightful panoramic scenarios of western Himalayas ranges. Popularly called Fish-Tail due to its twin summit tops, appears like the tail of a fish. From Ghorepani Poon Hill the route diverts towards a high hill trail to Deurali amidst rhododendron forest around the valley.

Furthermore, Walk downhill to Bhanthati, a small settlement located on a gorge, and from here down and up to Tadapani. Another nice temporary settlement with several good lodges for trekkers’ comfort facing tremendous views of Annapurna peaks. The next morning’s walk follows a gentle trail through dense woodland and downhill to a large Ghandruk village, populated with Gurung people. The main hill tribes of Annapurna Himalaya, are interwoven with Buddhism as well and follow the ancient culture of Bon a pre-Buddhist sect.

The trail follows down to Modi River on the long route to Pokhara for a few days more. The shortest route is down to Syali Bazaar and then back to Bhirethati village for a few hours drive to Pokhara.

Moderate to Adventurous Trail of Annapurna Region

The other exciting walk follows the trail to the heart of Annapurna Himalayas at Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp. Located at the height of 4,130 m beneath towering Mt. Annapurna-I at 8,091 m listed as the world’s 10th highest peak.

Additionally, various trekking trails to start with, taking a few days longer or heading straightforwardly towards Annapurna Base Camp. Whichever route is chosen eventually walk leads on the uphill trail to Chomrong, the last permanent village on route Annapurna base camp. On routes, there are a few settlements with some small nice simple lodges to cater to the trekkers. The walk leads into serene forested trails and down towards Modi River gorge, in a small settlement called Bamboo.

A slow and steep up towards Dovan, Himalaya Hotel to Deurali, where trees slowly disappear for short bushes. On reaching Machhapuchare Base Camp, in short, MBC, located on the bottom of Mt. Machhapuchare Himal North West Face. From MBC, a short climb to enter scenic Annapurna Sanctuary, a walk-on gentle trail to Annapurna Base Camp. Located right in the heart of the massive Annapurna Himalayas and at the foot of Mt. Annapurna-I. The first 8,000-meter peaks were climbed by French Expeditions on June 3rd, 1950, three years ahead Mt. Everest was conquered.

Thrilling Annapurna Base Camp Nepal

On reaching Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 m the highest elevation throughout the ABC Trek. After completing the Annapurna Base Camp the trail back to Chomrong village, and then with several options. One can make it longer by adding a few days to Pokhara or heading straight to Jhinu village with a natural hot spring. You can explore and create a beautiful experience in the natural hot spring at Jhinu Danda.

The other short and moderate to adventurous trail trekking towards Mardi Himal Base Camp. The walk follows from Dhampus village after a short drive from Pokhara, walking on the main trail for a day or more. From the small place of Deurali, the route diverts north within a forested trail to Mardi Himal at 4,500 m high.

Mardi Himal below 5600 m trekking peaks, is often climbed in good seasons of the year. Situated right beneath towering Machhapuchare Himal the Fish-Tail peak, from Mardi Himal Base Camp, the trail leads downhill. Several options to choose from as per your time in Nepal, either walk straight to the low farm village at Siding.

One can continue the trek to Annapurna Base Camp from Landruk and Ghandruk villages towards Ghorepani and Poon Hill also. Eventually, all treks were completed on the trail to Pokhara after trekking on ups and downhill trails of the Annapurna Himalaya region.

Annapurna Circuit with Thorong La Pass

Annapurna Circuit Trek is an extremely beautiful and popular destination in Nepal.  This trek leads to exploring the world’s highest Tilicho Lake, the world’s longest Thorong La Pass with the massive Annapurna Himalayas. A journey starts from Kathmandu on the main highway, then the route diverts north towards Lamjung district at the headquarters town of Besisahar. The drive continues high above the Masrsyangdi River and low warm paddy fields of Bulbule, Khudi, and Syangja towards cooler hills. Where the walk begins either from Jagat or beyond within the district of Manang at Dharapani village.

The walk follows on a gradual uphill into serene woodland of pines, and rhododendron trees to Chame. A large town and headquarters of the Manang area, the trail follows with a climb and then downhill to Pisang village. Entering into scenic wide Manang valley enclosed by an array of peaks with Chulu’s, Pisang in the north.

Includes a series of Annapurna Himalaya mountain ranges towards the south of Manang Valley, a walk-on pleasant trail with a touch of altitude. As elevation gains gradually on reaching at main Manang village, with many nice good lodges for overnight stay. Most trekkers spend an extra day at Manang which is above
3,500 m high.

The World’s Longest Thorong La Pass 5416m

A perfect place for rest days to support acclimatization, before heading towards high Thorang-La Pass at 5,416 m high. From Manang village, the trail leads west at the end of Manang Valley, and a steep climb reaches on top of Thorang-La. The Pass forms the boundary between the Manang and Mustang districts and offers a spectacular panorama of a mountain range.

After an enjoyable moment on top of Thorang-La, a long descent to the holy premises of Muktinath. A sacred pilgrimage spot for both Hindu and Buddhist religions, as you enter the Mustang district. At Muktinath motorable road has reached, where one can take a drive to Pokhara. Herewith are options for more walks of some days on the downhill trail or enjoying the easy comfort of a jeep.

Where walks or drives lead through the wide Kaligandaki River valley past Jomsom, a large town and headquarters of the Mustang district. From Jomsom, one can enjoy flying to Pokhara City also, however, the driving and walking trails continue downhill. Reaching low warm farm country at Tatopani, a nice village with natural hot springs to enjoy.
