Altitude sickness is fairly common in Nepal, especially on treks above 2,500 meters. Symptoms include headaches, nausea, dizziness, and fatigue. To prevent it, acclimatize gradually by ascending slowly, ideally no more than 300–500 meters per day above 3,000 meters. Stay hydrated, eat light meals, and avoid alcohol or smoking. Rest days are essential for adjustment. Some trekkers use medication such as acetazolamide under medical advice. Monitor yourself and your group for symptoms, and descend immediately if severe signs appear. Physical fitness helps, but acclimatization and careful planning are the most effective ways to prevent altitude-related problems.
